Location
Job's Peak Ranch, Douglas County, Nevada is located along the eastern slope
of the Sierra Nevada mountain range above the Carson Valley. 210 miles east
of San Francisco, 45 miles south of Reno and 15 miles east of Lake Tahoe Nevada.
Established as a Mormon trading post in 1851, the Carson Valley encompasses
Genoa, the oldest settlement in Nevada where emigrants and pony express riders
on their way west, traveled the last segment of the California Trail between
Salt Lake City and Sacramento. Many vestiges of that robust era and symbol
of that pioneer spirit are still here today.
Site
The site comprises 2.17 acres bracketed by two year-round streams which bathe
the property in the soothing sounds of running water. A private covered deck
off the master bedroom is designed to maximize appreciation of the mature trees
and the music of Sheridan Creek. The exterior of the home is fully landscaped
and includes a beautiful patio complete with speakers, adding ambience, whether
entertaining or just relaxing.
The Home
The dramatic and comfortable interior has many custom features such as two
backlit art niches with revolving platforms, a one-of-a-kind steel and wood
handrail in the entry, faux painting in selected rooms, Surround Sound in all
public areas as well as the patio and the master suite, built-in mahogany bookcases
and executive desk in the office, and a private covered deck off the master
bedroom suite. Three types of rare granite slabs can be found in the kitchen,
bar and master bath respectively. Custom lighting is evident throughout, but
of particular note is the alabaster and stainless steel chandelier in the dining
room. A large ledgestone fireplace graces the wall between the living room
and dining room allowing enjoyment from both rooms. A second fireplace of quartzite
flagstone with a mahogany mantle lends warmth and coziness to the master bedroom
and its adjacent sitting area. Three separate heating/air conditioning forced
air units provide exceptional ease for controlling the temperature. The forced
air returns are cleverly integrated into the wall. Two spacious guest suites
are located on the upper level, each with a private bath. Attention to detail
is evident throughout.
